Long's Stellar Opening Round Paces Solid Opening 36 Holes for @BonniesGolf

HAMILTON, N.Y. – Senior Corey Long matched his career-low round by firing a three-under 69 during the morning as the St. Bonaventure University golf team stands seventh overall in the field of 16 teams after 36 holes at the Alex Lagowitz Memorial Invitational.

The Bonnies began the 2017 fall season at Seven Oaks Golf Club with a strong team score of 295 during the morning round, paced by Long's stellar opening 18. Long posted an eagle along the way to highlight his round and tie the best score of the day by any player in the field.

Changing weather conditions created a challenge for the field during the afternoon as the Bonnies turned in a 305 team total in round two to fall to seventh after standing second following the first round. The field remains tightly bunched, however, with the Bonnies just nine shots back of leading Cornell (591) while Lehigh (593), Fairleigh Dickinson (593), North Dakota State (594) and Seton Hall (595) complete the top five.

Long went 69-77 for a 146 total and ranks tied for sixth in the field of over 80 competitors.

Sophomore Nolan Ditcher carded an opening round 75 and equaled that during the afternoon for a 150 total. Freshman Danny Gianniny went 75-77/152 in his first official collegiate rounds while Zach Chaddock (76-76/152) and Dylan Glatz (81-77/158) completed the scoring for St. Bonaventure. Chaddock drained five birdies to lead the team Saturday.
