NORTH KINGSTON, R.I. – The St. Bonaventure golf team turned in a cumulative score of 305 on Tuesday morning to finish seventh in the 14-team field Rhode Island Invitational held on Quidnessett Country Club.
St. Bonaventure finished with a team score of 910 for the week after 54-hole totals of 299-306-305. The Bonnies finished in seventh alone after entering the final round tied with Central Connecticut which closed at 917 while St. Peter's, which was also in that three-way tie, recorded a final score of 920.
Junior Corey Long led the Bonnies by finishing in a tie for 12th individually. After a stellar day Monday, he carded 79 on Tuesday to complete his week at 71-72-79 for a six-over par total of 222. He was seven shots back of Ryan Tombs of Bryant who took the individual title.
Patrick Sheerer also registered an 80 in the final round, completing his week with 70-80-80/230 and a tie for 30th overall. Reigning Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week Nolan Ditcher had another solid day Tuesday with his second straight 76 for a 231 total (79-76-76) and a tie for 34th.
Zach Chaddock recorded the best score of the day for the Bonnies, finishing up with a 74 to conclude the week with 82-78-74 for a 234 cumulative score. Also in the lineup was Brent Morgan (79-82-76/237) who finished his tournament with his best round of the week.
Next up for the Bonnies is a trip to Florida for the Atlantic 10 Championships to be held in Orlando at Grand Cypress Resort April 28-30.
