Chaddock Paces Bonnies in Opening Round of Kingsmill Intercollegiate

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Freshman Zach Chaddock carded a 75 to place in a tie for 36th in a field of 118 golfers, leading the St. Bonaventure golf team at the first day of the Kingsmill Intercollegiate at Kingsmill Resort.

The first of three rounds was delayed approximately four hours due to lingering snow and cold conditions. When the teams finally teed it up shortly after noon, the par 70 6,778-yard layout proved to be a challenge for the Bonnies who finished with a team score of 313. That places the Bonnies in 18th in the field of 22 schools.

Louisville (280), Penn State (283), Tennessee (286), Sam Houston State (290) and Marshall (294) show the way in the deep and talented field.

Chaddock finished at five-over for the day while sophomore Brent Morgan (78), freshman Nolan Ditcher (79), junior Corey Long (81) and sophomore Matt Abendroth (84) were also in the scoring for St. Bonaventure.

An opportunity to move up the leaderboard certainly exists as St. Bonaventure stands just 10 shots out of the top 10.

Thirty-six holes remain with an 18-hole shotgun slated for two waves on Monday at 8:30 a.m. and 1:45 p.m. The final round will take place on Tuesday.
