Former St. Bonaventure basketball standout Chris Johnson has signed a one-year contract with EN Baskets Schwelm of the German Pro B League.
Johnson is coming off his first professional season when he played for the Glasgow Rocks of the British Basketball League (BBL). He was the team's second-leading scorer at 14.3 points per game and also averaged 4.9 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.0 steal per game. His season was highlighted by a double-double of 19 points and 10 assists against Newcastle on March 23, and he scored 20 points or more four times in 13 games. Johnson led the Rocks to the BBL Trophy finals.
A 6-5 swingman from North Preston, Nova Scotia, Johnson played two seasons at St. Bonaventure. He was a major component of the 2011-12 team that captured the Atlantic 10 Championship and earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Johnson played in 30 games that season and averaged 6.6 points per game. Johnson improved dramatically from his junior season to his senior year, when he was the Bonnies' third-leading scorer at 12.6 points per game and registered 20 of his 28 career games in double-figure scoring. His 87.7 free throw percentage in 2011-12 ranks as the fifth-best mark in program history.
