ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The final Mark Schmidt Radio Show of the year will be held tonight, Feb. 28, at 7:30, broadcasting live from Bartlett Country Club in Olean.
The 30-minute program, hosted by Gary Nease, puts St. Bonaventure men's basketball fans directly in touch with Bona head coach Mark Schmidt. Fans in attendance will have the opportunity to not only listen to Schmidt discuss the season to this point, but also ask their own questions of the 2012 Sporting News Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year.
Schmidt will recap SBU's 78-71 win over Duquesne last Saturday night. He will also discuss Bonaventure's current two-game winning streak as the Brown and White begins the final three regular-season games of the year Saturday at home against Charlotte. The Bonnies are currently in the midst of their second bye week of the A-10 season, and Schmidt will detail what the club has been doing to pass the time during midterm break, including a team bowling outing on Wednesday afternoon.
Without playing Wednesday night, the Bonnies moved from sole possession of 12th place into a four-way tie for 9th in the Atlantic 10 at 6-7 with George Washington, Saint Joseph's and Charlotte. Bonaventure has the tiebreaker on Saint Joe's and can also gain it over Charlotte with a win versus the 49ers in a crucial contest in the Reilly Center Saturday. If the A-10 Championship began today, SBU would have the 10 seed as only the top 12 of the league's 16 teams make the tournament, held entirely at the brand-new Barclays Center in Brooklyn March 14-17.
The kitchen at Bartlett just re-opened earlier this month following a renovation, and great food and drinks will be available throughout the show, which will air on The PIG 95.7 FM in the Olean area and online via GoBonnies.com. Those unable to make it to Bartlett may submit questions through Twitter (@Go_Bonnies by using the hashtag #Bonnies) or Facebook (St. Bonaventure Athletics).
