Nicholson Named to Lute Olson All-America Team
CollegeInsider.com announced senior forward Andrew Nicholson was named to the Lute Olson All-America Team March 20, adding yet another accolade to a spectacular senior season.
Nicholson, a preseason pick for the list, is the first Bonnie to earn Lute Olson All-American recognition since CollegeInsider.com created the team in 2010. The team is voted by a committee of coaches, former players and press members, including Indiana coach Tom Crean, Philadelphia 76ers and Arizona standout Andre Iguodala and CBS/TNT's Steve Kerr.
The Mississauga, Ontario product earned Atlantic 10 Player of the Year honors after a dominant Atlantic 10 schedule in which he averaged 25.3 points and 11.5 rebounds over the final eight conference games. Nicholson became the first player in A-10 history to earn four consecutive Player of the Week honors in the process.
Nicholson led the Bonnies to their first NCAA Tournament berth since 2000, scoring 26 points, 14 rebounds and eight blocks to power Bonaventure past Xavier in the A-10 Championship, earning the tournament's Most Outstanding Player award as a result.
Nicholson wrapped up his career near the top of many lists in program history. He ranks second in points (2, 103), field goal percentage (.575) and blocked shots (244) as well as fourth in total rebounds (887).
Twenty-five players were named to the Lute Olson All-America Team, including Tu Holloway (Xavier), Harrison Barnes (North Carolina), Jae Crowder (Marquette), Anthony Davis (Kentucky), Jared Sullinger (Ohio State) and Austin Rivers (Duke).
One member of the team will be chosen for the 2012 Lute Olson Award March 30 in New Orleans.
