SBU Begins Hoops Season With Brown & White Night

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure University athletics department will host Brown & White Night, a celebration that marks the official start of basketball season, Oct. 15 at 7:30 p.m. in the Reilly Center.

The midnight madness-style event will feature a skills contest with members of the men's and women's basketball teams, coach and player introductions and performances by the hip-hop and cheerleading teams. No tickets or advance registration are required and the event is open to the public.

"This is the official start to a highly-anticipated basketball season and we're going to tip it off in an exciting way," said associate athletics director Steve Mest. "We've made some dramatic improvements over previous years. This is the type of event that our students and fans have needed to get the season off on the right foot."

The department will also raise the 2011 WNIT banner to the rafters and honor the contributions of past men's basketball coaches Eddie Donovan, Jim Satalin and Larry Weise with commemorative banners of their own.

For the first time ever, the festivities will be carried live over the internet, as SBU-TV is set to broadcast the event in its entirety through the CBS All-Access player on GoBonnies.com.
