PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. – Dartmouth jumped on top early and never looked back on the way to a 13-1 win over the St. Bonaventure baseball team in the finale at the Snowbird Classic on Sunday.
The Big Green (2-1) earned revenge after the Bonnies (1-2) earned an 8-7 win in a matchup of the same two teams on Saturday afternoon.
Dartmouth scored a run each in the first and second innings against Bonnies freshman Casey Vincent who made his first collegiate start. After Vincent set the Big Green down quietly in the third, Dartmouth extended its lead with a three-run fourth.
Dartmouth pitching limited the Bonnies to four hits just a day after they cranked out 14. Starter Michael Danielak tossed five scoreless innings, allowing just two hits to pick up the victory.
For the Bonnies, freshman Murphy O'Brien also made his debut by striking out three while allowing two runs in two innings. Yet another freshman hurler, Danny Madden worked a scoreless inning of relief as well.
St. Bonaventure returns home briefly before getting back to action next weekend, again in Florida beginning Saturday, March 4 with the first of a four-game series with Maine at Delray Beach.
