ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – Wednesday's home baseball game between St. Bonaventure and the University at Buffalo has been canceled due to thunderstorms and heavy rain expected later in the afternoon.
The two teams were originally scheduled to play a doubleheader on April 2 at Fred Handler Park, but those were postponed to April 16 due to snow. Then, on April 16, rain prohibited the two teams from playing again and they agreed to a single, 9-inning game this afternoon.
Weather has now impacted 14 of St. Bonaventure's games already this year as those contests have been canceled, postponed, relocated or not finished due to snow or rain.
Bonaventure, which has played just five home games – including a doubleheader sweep Tuesday against Bucknell – is 4-1 in those outings, representing 30 percent of its 13 victories on the season.
The Bonnies are still in the midst of what is now a seven-game homestand and are scheduled to return to action this weekend against defending Atlantic 10 Champion Dayton. Friday's game is set for 3 p.m., with a pair of 12 p.m. starts on Saturday and Sunday to conclude the three-game series.
