Start of baseball A-10 series vs. Fordham pushed back
ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. — With high winds, snow and temperatures in the 40s predicted for Friday, the start of St. Bonaventure’s weekend Atlantic 10 baseball series against Fordham has been pushed back to Saturday, April 10 at Fred Handler Park.
The two teams will now play a doubleheader on Saturday with game one beginning at noon. The second game will begin approximately 30 minutes after the opener and both contests will be nine-inning affairs. Sunday’s series finale will also begin at noon.
Game one of the doubleheader can be heard live on WHDL 1450 AM or on www.GoBonnies.com through the service of Stretch Internet. Fans can also listen to Sunday’s game on www.GoBonnies.com or tune into WSBU 88.3 FM “The Buzz.”
The Bonnies (4-16) will look to put an end to an eight-game losing streak that includes the first six games of A-10 play. The Brown and White have yet to play an A-10 series at home, but will be at Fred Handler Park the next two weekends against Fordham and Saint Joseph’s.
Junior Jesse Bosnik enters the weekend on an 18-game hit streak in which he has hit .462 (36-78). Bosnik is just two hits shy of becoming the 15th player in program history to amass 150 hits. The St. Marys, Pa. product ranks second in the A-10 with an .440 batting averaging while boasting team-bests of 10 doubles, 26 RBI, .726 slugging percentage and .505 on-base clip.
Fordham sits at 8-19 on the season and 3-3 in the A-10 after taking two games from Richmond and one game from Rhode Island last weekend. Junior Brian Pendergast was named the A-10 Pitcher of the Week after leading the Rams to a 13-2 win over URI, going seven innings and allowing just two hits.
