The state-of-the-art S.D. Boser Varsity Strength and
Conditioning Center is a key component in the development of all
student-athletes on St. Bonaventure's 14 varsity teams.
Directed by Strength and Conditioning Coach Darryn Fiske, the
Center houses 3.5 tons of
weights, dumbbells and Olympic barbells, furnished with an array
of strength training, rehabilitation and conditioning equipment.
The Center features LifeFitness cardiovascular pieces and Hammer
Strength plate loaded machines along with free weights organized in
a total body circuit in 2,200 square feet of space.
All physical training sessions are designed to develop stronger,
powerful and durable student-athletes.
Computer-generated individualized strength training workouts are
tailored to meet the demands of the sport and the needs of the
athlete.
Training sessions incorporate strength and power development,
medicine ball training and flexibility. With free weights, the
entire body can be trained in a sport-specific functional manner
and the athlete's strength and explosive power capabilities can be
developed.
Periodic testing and evaluation sessions are planned to assess the
athlete's progress and physical development throughout the year and
an entire career.
To complement the strength and power developed in the Center,
Fiske and his staff also conduct regular drills for speed, agility
and conditioning.
The Center is conveniently located just steps away from the arena
floor, where warmup, footwork and flexibility drills are performed
prior to each strength workout.
The S.D. Boser Strength and Conditioning Center and an experienced
and enthusiastic strength and conditioning staff give St.
Bonaventure's student-athletes the physical tools to compete and
excel in the Atlantic 10 Conference.
