Sarah Pruess was named the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance in August 2012 and then promoted to Associate AD in the fall of 2016.
Pruess came to St. Bonaventure with a deep background in compliance. She was previously at Wayne State University where she spent five years as the Assistant Athletic Director for Academic Support Services and Compliance. Her primary responsibilities included overseeing the comprehensive compliance program for the athletics department. While supervising an Academic Coordinator, Assistant Compliance/Academic Coordinator, SAAC Graduate Assistant and graduate level interns. Served on the Athletics Senior Management team, led the NCAA Institutional Self-Study and the DI Compliance Certification Review, and served on the Gender Equity Committee. Additional responsibilities included serving as the athletics liaison to the Registrar’s Office and the Financial Aid Office.
Prior to Wayne State, Pruess was at George Mason where her responsibilities included coordinating all aspects of compliance and monitoring within NCAA Bylaw 13 and 17 while managing the overall compliance education program directed toward student-athletes, coaches, staff and boosters.
Pruess, a 2002 Albion College graduate where she was a softball student-athlete, also served in similar roles at Chicago State University and Eastern Michigan University.
Pruess is responsible for ensuring compliance with NCAA and Atlantic 10 Conference rules in all areas of St. Bonaventure athletics. In addition to certification of eligibility, recruiting, playing/practice seasons and financial aid, Pruess will also serve as an on-campus reference for NCAA rules and regulations.
