Feature #18: Stephanie Barry The edition of Bonnies Spotlight features Stephanie Barry of the women's cross country team. Upon beginning her college search, St. Bonaventure freshman women’s cross country runner Stephanie Barry was already pretty familiar with the university she currently calls home, considering her father Steve is an alumnus. “I’ve been coming here pretty much my whole life,” said Barry. “But, I always thought of it as just my dad’s school.” However, Barry noted that once she went on her official visit to St. Bonaventure, she finally began to envision herself at her father’s alma mater. “My host really showed me the all the student life around campus and that was important because when I came on visits with my dad, it was during school breaks so there was no one really here,” Barry said. “When I came for my visit I saw the real St. Bonaventure community and it was amazing.” Since arriving at St. Bonaventure, Barry has already impressed the Bonnies women’s cross country team, finishing second on the team with a 5K time of 20:24.8, which was also good for 14th overall out of 43 runners at the Little Three Championships on Sept. 2. More recently, Barry finished third on the team and 19th overall with a time of 21:02.8 at the Binghamton Invitational on Sept. 17. Barry noted that the change between running in high school and running in college was evident right away in her first collegiate meet.
